A LookBook For Divya Jain's Clothing Collection Dedicated To Breast Cancer Warriors

Updated: Feb 25, 2020

It's funny how many times we've had to edit this article - autocorrect always changes the term 'lookbook' to 'cookbook'. The same spellcheck mechanism also declares lookbook to be grammatically incorrect, demanding there be a space between the two words - as an ex-journalist, the red highlights in my text pain me as I bang this text out on my laptop, but there's nothing much I can do about it save from minimize repetitions of this debatable word.

The one thing these two different kinds books do have in common are delicious photographs - representations of style, flair, talent, artistry. They are devoured by hungry eyes, and can prove equally satisfying when conjured up.. or equally disappointing.

In this case, putting together Divya Jain's Lookbook for her 2020 collection Valiente was one of the most satisfying things we've done for various reasons:

a. The New Delhi-based designers's collection is dedicated to breast cancer warriors - warriors mind you, not survivors (her own twist on the words). The word Valiente means Brave, bee tee dubs.

b. TPC conceptualized everything for Jain - from the concept of using real women instead of models, putting together the still and video shoot at a VERY budgeted cost, interviewing the breast cancer warriors, giving them a makeover...

c. Collaborating with sustainable fashion designer Aanchal Sukhija to model Jain's clothes.

d. Tinkering with Sukhija's makeup on the sets - it was hundo percent amazeballs to slather her face in varying shades of glitter without a single complaint.

f. Being able to finish this lookbook in two days.

So, here's what we came up with (DISCLAIMER: this is not the complete lookbook)
